Our Reverse Advent Calendar Christmas Campaign
This is one of our favourite parts of Christmas and we think everyone should give it a go, even if you can only afford a couple of items - it all counts and will help someone!
What is a reverse advent calendar?
Reverse advent calendars work by filling them every day in the run up to Christmas with items such as food, toiletries, clothing and other essentials. They can be taken to a food bank or charity in order to help those less fortunate that are struggling at Christmas time.
This winter, food banks are expecting to give out emergency parcels every 9 seconds. This can't go on. It's time to end the injustice and begin a Hunger Free Future. So, we encouraged our customers to join us by creating their own reverse advent calendar.
We donated ours to our local Trussell Trust food bank including toiletry essentials and food items from our shelves.
Trussell Trust
The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks to provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
We decided to do a 12 day calendar and donated two items per day (per team member) in the run up to Christmas so that we could make a donation early, to be distributed to those in need before Christmas.
How can I find where my local food bank is located?
You can search for your nearest food bank on The Trussell Trust website and it will display a list of the most needed items in that area. There are also many other local charities and shelters that would greatly appreciate your donations, it doesn't have to be this one.
