It's been really hard to find superfoods that come in reusable and easily recyclabe packaging. They are usuaully packaged in plastic which is almost always non-recyclable so I am very pleased to be a stockist of Superfoodies. The powders come in a tin wihout any plastic wrapping inside. The tin is perfect for upcycling too - from diy makeup to a soap tin whilst travelling.

Quantity and Dosage: Stir 1 to 2 tablespoons (8 to 16 grams) of maca powder daily into your favourite smoothie, juice or shake. Gradually increase the amount, in order that your body can slowly adjust. Facts Maca (Lepidium Meyenii) is a tuber crop from the finial family, which originated in Peru, South America, where this so-called 'aphrodisiac of the Andes’ has been cultivated for more than 2600 years. According to certain studies, the Pumpush were the first to actively cultivate maca, after leaving the Amazon behind for a new home in the mountains, a practice later continued by the Yaro and Incas. When the Spaniards colonised the continent, they were so impressed by the mighty maca that they wrote detailed reports about the plant and its active ingredients. Maca grows at exceptionally high altitudes and extreme temperatures. The average altitude at which maca is cultivated is 2700-3000 metres, but there are reports of maca growing at up to 4300 meters. The most important part of the maca is the root, which after harvesting, is boiled, dried and then ground into a powder. Maca powder boasts a variety of colours, ranging from matte white and yellow, to red, purple and even black. In ancient Peru maca was considered so valuable that at one point it even served as a means of payment and was used to settle taxes. Shamans in the Andes believe that if someone eats maca, spirits will descend on earth to reincarnate. During Inca times maca was often supplied to warriors prior to battle, in order to increase alertness, energy and strength. After the warriors had conquered a city or area, the consumption of maca was then denied, in order to spare the women.
