DIY Beauty: Diluted lemon oil can be wonderfully effective when it comes to skin care because of its high concentration of D-limonene. This essential oil is an astringent that assists in diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, promoting circulation, and toning the skin. In fact, recent research showed that D-limonene has skin-repairing and anti-inflammatory properties. Add to your night time moisturiser or it can be added to shampoo to aid cleaning or to a conditioner to help bring out the shine.
Note: If you plan to use lemon oil as a moisturiser, ensure that you only use it at night. The reason for this is that it is photosensitive and should never be worn when heading out into the sun.
DIY Cleaning: Loved for its light, clean scent, this essential oil is also a powerhouse in homemade cleaning recipes. Naturally antibacterial and antiviral, lemon is commonly used to degrease stubborn stains as well as freshen the air. Use it to deodorise your fridge, clean the floor, as an all-purpose cleaning spray or combine 10 drops with 1/2 cup olive oil for a natural wood polish.
Directions: Enjoy in a diffuser, as a room spray, in a hot bath, in diy beauty and cleaning remedies and as a massage oil. For skincare, do not use more than 5-10 drops of essential oil for every 20ml of carrier oil, alcohol or water.
Caution: For external use only. Do not use undiluted. Stop using if you experience a reaction. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical supervision. Not suitable for young children.
