Local discoveries for great escapes. A microadventure is an adventure that is short, simple, local, cheap – yet still fun, exciting, challenging, refreshing and rewarding. As the world’s population becomes increasingly urbanised, busy, and stuck in front of a screen, microadventures offer a realistic escape to wilderness, simplicity and the great outdoors, without the need to ski to the South Pole or go live in a cabin in Patagonia.
The appeal of microadventures is that they make adventure accessible to people who may have very little outdoor experience. Whether it’s sleeping on a hilltop or going for a wild swim, cycling a lap of the Isle of Wight or walking home for Christmas, it’s time you discovered something new about yourself and the world outside your window. Adventure is everywhere, every day and it is up to us to find it.

Why we love this book?
This book has got us really excited to step outdoors and have an adventure. There is something for everyone and they range for really simple and easy to plan adventures to some more hardcore options. We decided to stock this book not only to encourage staycations but also post lockdown, it's even more important to stay local.
We always look to see if books are friendly and compatible to a vegan lifestyle. This book is almost vegan-friendly. There are a couple of adventures (out of 38) that are not vegan-friendly which including catching fish to eat and a steak stew campfire along with photos, however nearer the end of the book in the How To section, there is a specific vegan stew. Food is really not the focus of this book and it is very minimal.
