5 Minute Homemade Oat Milk
1L Oat Milk

1 cup jumbo oats, preferably organic.

4 cups filtered water (check out our charcoal water filter sticks for waste free filtered water).
- Pinch of salt.
- Optional: 2 dates (soak your dates in hot water for two minutes so they are easier to blend) or a squeeze of maple syrup or agave nectar.
I made mine in two batches due to the size of my blender.
Put all of the ingredients (minus the sweetener) in the blender and blend for around 20-30 seconds in total. Taste test and you may want to add more salt, oats or add in a natural sweetener to suit your taste. Don't blend for too long otherwise the oats will go slimy.
Pour the mixture into a nut milk bag. It's best to have the nut m*lk bag sitting inside a big bowl in case of any spills. You then simply twist the bag and squeeze.
And there you have it. Freshly made, creamy oat milk that tastes better than any of the brands you can buy in shops (sorry Oatly...you're always my back up), plus it's waste free.
You can use the oat pulp to make cookies or a face scrub to name a few ideas. Pop it in the fridge overnight to dry it out first before using.
Your oat m*lk will last five days in the fridge.
